How accessible
is your site?

The German BFSG has been in force since 28 June 2025. We fetch your URL server-side and check the most important WCAG basics in seconds — lang attribute, image alts, form labels, heading order, landmarks. No signup required.

Background

Accessibility and the German BFSG — what the check tests

The check fetches your page server-side and tests the WCAG basics that can be reliably detected automatically: a set language attribute, exactly one H1, alt texts on images, labeled form fields, logical heading order, meaningful link and button texts, and landmark structures for screen readers.

Since 28 June 2025, the German Accessibility Reinforcement Act (BFSG) applies: many consumer-facing websites — shops, booking and appointment flows — must be usable without barriers. Beyond the legal risk there's a practical reason: accessible pages are clearer for all users and are better understood by search engines.

The check is a heuristic first pass and doesn't replace a full WCAG 2.1 AA audit. But it shows you the gaps with the highest risk — and most of them can be closed with manageable effort.

Frequently asked questions

Does the BFSG apply to me?

Roughly: if consumers can conclude contracts, book or buy through your website, probably yes. Micro-enterprises under 10 employees and €2M revenue are partially exempt for services — when in doubt, get legal advice.

Is fixing the reported items enough?

It's the right start. Full accessibility also covers things only manual testing can catch — contrast in images, keyboard operability of complex widgets, plain language.

Why server-side instead of in the browser?

This way the check sees your page like a crawler or assistive tool on first load — without browser extensions or logged-in sessions distorting the result.
